Vascular and Endovascular Procedures

IMG_7944a.jpg

Vascular surgery consists of procedures or techniques to correct blood vessels outside of the heart and brain that may be narrowed, blocked or dilated. Vascular surgery is the open surgical treatment of diseases of the Carotid, Aortic, Mesenteric, Renal, or Peripheral arteries.  These techniques require surgery to correct the problems, often under general anesthesia. An alternative to traditional open surgery, endovascular surgery is an innovative, less invasive procedure that offers advantages such as small incisions, shorter hospital stay, less pain and quicker return to normal activities. However, endovascular surgery is not always feasible in all patients, so be sure to discuss this with your physician.

Vein Therapy

Modern advancements and rigorous training has made it possible for our team to offer a number of safe, minimally invasive, and highly effective vein treatments. These include radio-frequency ablation, micro-phlebectomy, and sclerotherapy, in addition to conservative therapy.

Dialysis Vascular Access

There are three types of Vascular Access for hemodialysis. An arteriovenous fistula, arteriovenous graft and hemodialysis catheter. Our vascular team is available to provide all dialysis access creation, and management.

Vascular Screening

An ultrasound is a non-invasive diagnostic test, not requiring the use of anesthesia or needles, to examine the circulation of blood vessels (arteries and veins) within the body and identify potential issues.  It is especially important if you have any of the Peripheral Artery Disease (PAD) risk factors, such as high blood pressure, diabetes, high cholesterol, family history or smoking.

During an ultrasound, high frequency sound waves, or ultrasound waves, are bounced off tissues in the body by using a special device, and are then reflected back to the ultrasound machine.  These sound waves are then converted into an image and displayed on the computer screen. The technologist evaluates blood flow through the vessel, looking for narrowed areas (blockages) in the arteries and blood clots in the veins.
